Factory Farming

Meat

There is about 10 billion animals used a year for humans to eat. Six of that billion is derived from “broilers.” Chickens life span is a very short nine weeks before they are taken away to be eaten. The hens that are able to lay eggs, are kept in a 14 inch cage that fits five to six each. 20% of these hens die from stress or disease.

Dairy
Half of 10 million cows that are used for milk in the United States live in factory farms. From the conditions at these farms, a lot of those cows die from suffering. In the 1990’s cows use to lived from four to five years. The age expectancy is 20-25 years of age.  A lot of the farmers keep their cows pregnant with the use of artificialinsemination so that production of cows aren’t lost.
